What is a Prompt Book?
A Prompt Book is the set of test questions AVO sends to AI platforms for each Focus.
Before an exam, you need practice questions. A Prompt Book is the practice test that AVO creates for each Focus. It is the actual set of questions AVO sends to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and other platforms to check whether they mention your brand.
Where the questions come from
AVO pulls questions from three real-world sources:
Autocomplete - The suggestions that appear when you type in a search bar. These represent what real people are actively searching for.
People Also Ask - The expandable question boxes you see in Google search results. These are common follow-up questions people have about a topic.
Search Results - Questions that appear in the organic search results for your keywords. These show the broader conversation around your topic.
Intent tiers
Each question is tagged with an intent tier. This tells you what kind of search the question represents:
Navigational - The user already knows your brand. Example: "Is AVO good for SEO?" These are the easiest to score well on.
Category - The user is exploring options. Example: "What are the best AI visibility tools?" You are competing with other brands here.
Advisory - The user wants a recommendation. Example: "Which tool should I use to track AI mentions of my brand?" These have the highest commercial value because the user is close to making a decision.
How to manage your Prompt Book
Build a Prompt Book
Click Build Prompt Book on any Focus card that does not have one yet. AVO generates the questions in 1-3 minutes. The card shows a progress indicator while building.
Rebuild after adding keywords
If you add new keywords to a Focus, click Rebuild Prompt Book. AVO will generate new questions that include the new keywords.
Add custom questions
Click Add Prompt to type your own question. Use this for specific questions you want to test that AVO did not generate automatically.
Deactivate or delete questions
Toggle off a question to deactivate it - it will be excluded from the next run but stays in your list. Click the delete icon to remove it permanently.
