Authority Score shows blocked or partial status
What the different Authority Score status levels mean and how to fix them.
When AVO runs an Authority Score scan, your site can get one of three status levels. Understanding what each one means helps you know what to do next.
The three status levels
Normal
Your site is fully accessible to AVO crawler. The scan reads your complete HTML, page structure, and all resources. Your score is accurate and complete.
Partial
Some pages on your site are blocked by a WAF (Web Application Firewall). AVO uses alternative methods to read those pages, but only gets the text content - not the full HTML structure. Your score is still valid but may be slightly lower than your actual score because some pages could not be fully analyzed.
Blocked
All access paths failed. AVO cannot read your site at all. No score is produced. You need to whitelist AVO bots in your WAF settings before you can get a score.
What to do for each status
For Normal status
No action needed. Your site is accessible and your score is accurate.
For Partial status
Your score is still usable. Open the Analysis Summary to see which specific pages were blocked. Those pages may have separate Cloudflare rules. If you can unblock them, your score may improve on the next run.
Even without unblocking, you can still use the score to track trends over time. Just keep in mind it might be slightly lower than your actual score.
For Blocked status
You need to configure Cloudflare to allow AVO bots. Follow the Cloudflare blocking guide for step-by-step instructions on setting up the WAF exception rule.
